Do You Know What Solace Is?

It‘s an odd word, one we seldom use these days. We might use words like consolation, cheer, support, but years ago, I heard that one word, “solace” in a sermon, and I knew exactly what it meant. I cannot remember anything else about that sermon, but that one word—solace.

Do you need solace this morning? Could you use a cup of comfort or consolation or cheer? Those of us who are on the healing journey after a loss can quickly find a place of solace in the book of Psalms:

”[God] heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.“ Ps. 147:3 NLT

”The LORD helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.“ Ps. 145:14

”Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close

beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.” Ps. 23:4 NLT

If you haven’t yet put the YouVersion Bible app on your phone or tablet, do it today! Then you will have instant access to the book of Pslams, and will have comfort and solace at your fingertips! Here is another wonderful verse to take comfort in, “Come close to God, and he will come close to you.“ James 4:8 NLT

I hope this week will bring you comfort, cheer, and a sense of our Father’s solace and love for you. Never forget—you are loved by your heavenly Papa.

Praying for you,
